We have hosted this training since 2009, and it is still a hit. Designed primarily for yoga teachers, this program attracts both teachers and students.
The result? People who have had long standing pain experience relief, or the pain goes away completely. Their awareness deepens, and their ability to listen to the unique language of their own body grows. They begin to feel the subtle energy within them, and experience “yoga” in a whole new way. Asana is no longer “a pose”, it is a state of ease and a presence of being.
You may be wondering – What on earth does this have to do with anatomy, biomechanics and kinesiology? These 3 disciplines form the foundation for understanding the neuro-mechanics of movement and breathing. Couple this with awareness and you will better embody the concepts and truly “know” them. You will move from an intellectual understanding to truly listening to your body. Because you are combining intellect with embodiment, your pain levels drop, tight areas of your body release naturally, poses that seemed out of reach become easy, and you begin to reconnect to that organic pulse within that is unique to you. And, if you are a teacher, you will be able to teach this to your students. This program really is the confluence of the magic of anatomy and biomechanics meeting the power of true healing.

A big insight for me has been the miracle of attending how we move into Asana purely and with good function, as opposed to getting into the Asana “shape” and then trying to adjust it so that it’s more easeful! There is such a huge difference between the two, the latter building dysfunction on top of dysfunction and the former honouring the Yoga principal of ease and steadiness in asana, and in body and mind. Also, I’ve been observing students for ages and seeing discomfort that I’ve longed to be able to help with more effectively, and now after this course I’m finding myself saying aaahhh! So that’s why this or that is happening! – picking up those compensation patterns has been so useful.
Prior to this course usually something is hurting, strained, overused, but I’ve interpreted it as “I’ve worked out”, it’s just so strange to go thru my day + night “pain free” …..AND I am making progress in areas where I was weak /tight/both or lacked mobility. It’s just plain weird to not have twinges, tension during or after “practice”. This is how it’s suppose to be….functionalsynergy….?
My Warrior 2 has become a pleasurable experience now, whereas before I felt agitated, embarrassed and full of pain. Thank you so much for all you have taught us!!
I have become much more aware of how and where I compensate in the poses and I have been amazed at how quickly tight areas are opening as I try to practice now from a place of pure movement. This course has really shifted the way I practice and teach. The other thing that blew me away was the concept that my body structure (particularly my lumbar curve) can change . . .I have always believed and been told . . . I am simply built that way. I have always tried to work with it as such but this perspective really gives me a lot of things to explore to figure WHY it is the way it is (which tends to cause aches and pains) and new ways of working with it.
