Therapeutic Yoga for
Shoulders & Hips

Free Your Shoulders and Hips and Feel So Much Better

The Frustration is Real

You are someone with tightness and strain,  and no matter how much yoga or rehabilitative exercise you do, the pain and tension just won’t go away.

You’ve tried the rehab exercises, you’ve adapted the poses, rolled on the foam roller, used the massage ball.

And you have had some relief … but it never seems to last.

You’re clearly doing the work so why is the tension still hanging around?

You may be wondering … since you are almost or already over 40, 50 or 60 years that maybe this is just the way it is..

But there is another part of that knows . . . deep down . . . that relief is possible.

There’s a part of you that remembers what it felt like to move with ease.

To not always be thinking about your back, your knees, your shoulders.

Whether you are stepping on a yoga mat, going for a walk/run, getting into the gym.

You want to finish your class or workout feeling light and energized . . .not tight and worn out.

That part of you is right. This isn’t just how it has to be.

And if you’re a yoga teacher, you may notice it in your students too. They keep showing up, they keep practicing, but the tension never really shifts.

It is exciting to see, and feel, how much has changed in my practice and my teaching since I took this program. That, and subsequent programs, have fundamentally changed the way I move and teach, and have inspired me to dive more deeply into many different aspects of movement and different movement practices

Here is the thing most people (and teachers and rehab professionals miss)

Your shoulders and hips are clever compensators.

When you free up your shoulders, you often free up strain in your elbows, wrists, neck and rib cage.

And when you free up your hips, your back, knees and feet can feel so much better.

This is the purpose of Therapeutic Yoga For Shoulders and Hips

When your shoulders and hips begin to free up  . .  really free up   . . . everything else begins to shift.

They’re the largest joints in the body, and also the ones that carry the most compensation. So when you change them, the ripple effect is profound.

Your back feels lighter.
Your knees stop complaining.
Your neck and head let go of tension.
Your breath deepens.
Your movement becomes fluid again.

This isn’t about doing more drills or pushing harder. It’s about restoring ease . . . so your strength and freedom can truly last.

How Therapeutic Yoga
For Shoulders and Hips Works

In this 12 week therapeutic yoga series you’ll learn how to calm gripping patterns in the shoulders and hips, restore stability without bracing, and build strength and mobility that feel sustainable.

Each session is designed to leave you feeling lighter and more at ease, with practical tools you can return to again and again.

And if you’re a yoga teacher, the VIP option gives you a deeper layer  . .  a teacher lab, cueing notes, and CEUs  . ..  so you can bring what you learn here directly into your own teaching.

I just love your down-to-earth presentation style – your humour and your warmth.  You convey so much knowledge without elevating yourself.  I have been studying anatomy on my own – with your books of course – but this workshop helped me integrate the physical concepts in a whole new way.

My teacher trainer always spoke of “effortless effort” and I understand this principle on an intellectual basis.  Your workshop bypassed the brain and brought the effortlessness to my body.  I felt fluid and graceful, and, might I say, liberated!  (I really had to stop myself from jumping up and down with child-like glee!!)

Thank you so much! ~ Jennifer

You have a way of listening to people and describing back to them in terms that the lay person can understand. Your knowledge of anatomy and movement is vast and you are very keen on all that you do. I can just tell you live and breath what you teach.

Thank you ~ Sandie

Move in your pain free range of motion’ has become my catch phrase. Those little boxes you drew on the white board are my favourite visual. My husband and the 2 desk-jokey co-workers I have managed to get this through to, have found pain relief and increased movement in their stiff backs/hips/shoulders.

None of these people do yoga. Should I say, did yoga.

~ Lisa

The breath awareness is really key for me as I find I get headaches some days by the end of the day and when I get outside, I yawn so obviously I am not getting enough (fresh) air into my lungs! The jaw release exercise is awesome as is the hip exercise and the foot exercise makes me smile. It all helps me to realize there has to be more to my work day then just work and if I pay more attention to myself, I feel soooo much better as I head home!

Your Teacher, Susi Hately

BSc. Kinesiology, CIAYT Yoga Therapist, Director, Functional Synergy Yoga Therapy IACT Accredited Yoga Therapy Program

I have a BSc. Kinesiology and have been integrating Therapeutic applications of Biomechanics with Yoga for 30 years. This combination is one of the most integrative ways of addressing whole body/whole mind, nervous system wellbeing to recovery and healing.

Two of my programs have been studied at a university level – and both programs showed the significant impact of an intelligent application of yoga and biomechanics to health and healing.

I’m also the author of the best selling Anatomy and Asana: Preventing Yoga Injuries series, and have been leading Yoga Therapy IAYT Accredited Certification Program since 2008, and have created and taught dozens of online training programs for both professionals and people wanting to reduce and eliminate chronic pain.

Time and time again I see, that 1. Where the Pain is often felt is often not the problem, and 2. When we can intelligently and compassionately reduce compensation patterns pain can drop dramatically.
